THEATRE EDUCATION PROGRAM |  Program for 8-10 year-olds, developed by Káva Cultural Workshop

Budapest (HU) | 2012

“Tales show us order, and the road to it, so we can bring the instinctive and the rational into harmony!” (Marie Louise von Franz)

In the theatrical program realised through the cooperation of the MU Theatre and the Káva Cultural Workshop, actors and participants can once more plays together. We are creating a shared playground in which children can reflect freely on why it’s hard to be a good child!

The starting-point of our performance is a contemporary story whose protagonist, a young boy, finds himself in an unknown and unpredictable imaginary world – whose rules work quite differently from the familiar quotidian one. In this both frightening and liberating imaginary realm, the boy must learn anew what violence and power, what lying and truthfulness, what obedience and justice mean.

During the performance actors and children alike are spectators, creators, and participants in the tale. The aim of thinking together is to examine, with the help of our questions, as thoroughly as possible, and to understand as deeply as possible, the familiar and unfamiliar worlds surrounding us and within us.

The performance received a special prize at the 6 th Children and Youth Theatre Biennale in Kaposvár (as the production most excitingly and complexly tying together theatre and educational programs).
