Blackland is a collective creation of the Krétakör company: a dark, grotesque and satirical vision of the world we live in. The stories are based on the SMS messages received by the director since 1. January 2004, which in 160 characters articulate daily events. These inspired the actors to improvise scenes and musical numbers which add up not to a traditional drama, but to an absurd feast, an initiation ceremony of sorts. Regarding the way it was devised, Blackland is a continuation of Fatherland, my all - except that this time we took a step further, and instead of traditional story-telling, gave a musical structure to un-related or rhyming, juxtaposed or parallel scenes.
