(The Day of Fury)

AUTHOR | Austrian premiere of the play 'The Day of Fury' written by Árpád Schilling and Éva Zabezsinszkij

Theater Drachengasse

Erzsébet Fekete, a nurse at premature baby ward, fights for the lives of "her" babies, she demands a basic supply of toilet paper, towels and disinfectants and some relief for the overloaded staff. The ministry promises support, her colleagues cheer her. But, in the end, the premature baby ward is closed and she quits. Abandoned by all her fellow combatants, Erzsébet Fekete has to fight for her own survival.

Her mother, socialized in the communism, talks about the good old days and knows how her daughter should have done better: she should have ignored her husband cheating on her and never would have him leaving her alone. Erzsébet's daughter, Evelin does not believe in anything anymore. Between school and part-time jobs, she struggles for her chance for a good life.

Three generations of women, between commitment and disillusionment: at which level can they control their own lives? And what is still left of their strong belief in the changeability of the society?
